La mia storia

My story
Sono nata a Milano, in Lombardia. Ho frequentato la scuola a Milano ma dopo il diploma ho vissuto per cinque anni a Bologna, dove ho studiato Lettere all'università. Dopo la laurea sono andata a vivere a Brescia. Lì ho conosciuto Stefano. Siamo usciti insieme per circa due anni e poi siamo andati a convivere. L'anno scorso abbiamo avuto un bambino: Simone è nato il 28 gennaio e ha iniziato a camminare da pochi giorni.

I was born in Milan, Lombardy. I went to school in Milan but after graduating I lived for five years in Bologna, where I studied Literature at the university. After graduation I went to live in Brescia. There I met Stefano. We dated for about two years and then moved in together. Last year we had a baby boy: Simone was born on January 28 and started walking a few days ago.

Passato prossimo

The passato prossimo is one of the two most used past tenses in Italian. It is a compound verb that can sometimes be translated using the English past simple, while at other times it resembles the present perfect

Examples:
    The passato prossimo is formed with the present tense of the auxiliary verb, essere or avere, followed by the participio passato of the verb.

    To get the participio passato of regular verbs change the ending of the infinitive as follows:

    Notice that when the auxiliary essere is used, the past participle behaves like an adjective and it must agree in gender and number with the subject.

    La mia famiglia

    My family
    Ciao, mi chiamo Giulia e ho una famiglia molto bella! Vivo con i miei genitori e mio fratello. Il nome di mio padre è Paolo, e la sua professione è insegnante. Mia madre si chiama Laura ed è una cuoca bravissima. Mio fratello si chiama Luca ed è uno studente. La nostra casa è grande e accogliente. La mia camera è piccola ma comoda. Mi piace trascorrere il tempo con la mia famiglia, guardando la TV insieme o cucinando. Il mio cibo preferito è la pasta, e la mamma prepara sempre il mio piatto preferito! Anche i miei nonni abitano vicino a noi. Loro sono molto gentili e vengono spesso a trovarci. Hanno una casa in campagna, dove passiamo le vacanze estive insieme. Siamo una famiglia molto unita e ci vogliamo tanto bene. Sono felice di avere la mia famiglia al mio fianco!

    Hi, my name is Julia and I have a very nice family! I live with my parents and my brother. My father's name is Paolo, and his profession is teacher. My mother's name is Laura and she is a very good cook. My brother's name is Luca and he is a student. Our house is big and cozy. My room is small but comfortable. I like to spend time with my family, watching TV together or cooking. My favorite food is pasta, and mom always prepares my favorite dish! My grandparents also live near us. They are very kind and come to visit us often. They have a house in the country, where we spend summer vacations together. We are a very close family and we love each other very much. I am happy to have my family by my side!
